Certificate of Proficiency in English
The Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE) is a standardized, 4-skill American English test at the highest level of proficiency.
The updated exam will remain at the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and the overall level of difficulty and standards will not change. The revisions will offer the following benefits to test takers and teachers:
- More accessible: More topics and scenarios for a younger demographic
- Coherent progression: More task type commonality between ECCE and ECPE
- Increased efficiency: Reduced number of total items
- New listening parts 1 & 2
- Listening part 3 played twice
- Reduction in the total number of items
- New writing tasks with more time to write
- New writing scoring criteria
